Emma Strange BVSc MRCVSClinical Director
Emma is from the Wirral and qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2008. She started as a veterinary surgeon at Broadway in 2009. However, some of our clients may remember that Emma worked at Broadway as a receptionist and auxiliary nurse while at university. Emma has broad interests in the areas of dermatology, general medicine and surgery in addition to having a keen interest in rabbits.
Susie Major MA VetMB MRCVSLead Veterinary Surgeon
Susie qualified from Cambridge University in 1988. After two years working in a small animal practice in Aylesbury she moved to the Wirral. Susie originally came to Broadway as a two week locum, and ended up staying for the next 26 years! Only Denise has been here longer.
Victoria Fraser BVSc MRCVSLead Veterinary Surgeon
Vicky has worked in the Veterinary Profession since 2000 having obtained a Veterinary Nursing degree. Vicky then qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2009 from the University of Liverpool. Vicky started working at Broadway in August 2009 and has a keen interest in both Surgery and Medicine. Outside of work, Vicky enjoys spending time with her son and husband. She loves to spend time in Cornwall and enjoys walking.
Holly Bearsley BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Holly is from North Yorkshire and graduated from the University of Liverpool. Holly has been working at Broadway since August 2016 and has interests in all aspects of Veterinary medicine and surgery but especially likes geriatric cats! Outside of work Holly can be found competing her horse back in North Yorkshire or on the Squash court. At home on the Wirral she has a cat and two guinea pigs.
Angela Byrne BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
I have been a small animal practitioner for the last 15 years and thoroughly enjoy my job. I have a 17-year-old Jack Russell Terrier called Frodo Baggins and two young children who certainly keep me on my toes! In my spare time I love playing Women’s Touch Rugby and attending circuit classes. Baking is another love but my waistline may disagree!
Arturs Ivanovs MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Arturs is originally from Latvia and graduated from the University of Agriculture in Latvia, having had externships in Estonia and Germany. Arturs has been working at Broadway since March 2019 and has interests in oncology, dermatology, exotic species and surgery and clinical diagnostics. Outside of work, Arturs enjoys sports, reading and spending time outside with nature! At home in Latvia, Arturs has a lovely 10-year-old cat called Luna.
Alison Howell BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Alison qualified from Liverpool University in 2006 and worked at various practices in the North West before returning to Liverpool to study for a PhD in cattle parasites. She currently works part time at Broadway whilst also continuing parasitology research at Leahurst. Alison is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery. Outside of work she enjoys running and cycling.
Ana Rita da Silva Martins Ribeiro MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Rita is originally from Portugal and she graduated in July 2018 from University of Porto. She came to work in the UK in March this year and recently moved to the Wirral. Her main interests are surgery, ophthalmology and neurology. Outside work she enjoys swimming, going to music concerts, reading a good book or watch a nice movie. At home in Portugal, Rita has a lovely cat called Kiki.
Maria Peregrin Diaz MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Maria is from Almeria, Spain. She studied veterinary medicine in Valencia and after graduating in 2017 has done a rotating internship in a referral hospital in Madrid. Maria has interests in internal medicine and surgery and outside of work she likes to play the piano and spend quality time with her friends.
Victoria Walker BVetMed MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Vicky qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1999. She has spent many years as a locum vet, filling temporary vacancies, which have taken her as far as Australia. She returned to Broadway in 2019 after several years away from the practice and enjoys the variety her job provides.
Georgina Maloney RVNPractice Manager
Georgie started working at Broadway in 2009 as an auxiliary nurse and completed her veterinary nurse training with us through our affiliation with Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing, becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2015. Georgie is a Clinical Coach for our Student Veterinary Nurses and her main clinical interests are in feline nursing and anaesthesia.
Denise SmithPractice Administrator
Denise has been at Broadway longer than anyone and is a fixture behind the desk at Bebington, leading us to believe that, like the Tower of London's ravens, if Denise ever left us then Broadway would surely collapse! She sorts out all of our insurance forms, does the books, and generally keeps us all in line.
Gayle Davies RVNHead Nurse
Gayle qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008. She is our practice head nurse and has specific responsibility for our Heswall branch, working hard to keep us all in line and the practice running smoothly! Gayle is a Clinical Coach, meaning she supports Student Veterinary Nurses within practice during their training.
Alexandra Shankland RVNBebington Branch Nurse
Alex has been at Broadway since 2011 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2015. Alex is also a Clinical Coach to our nursing students and is responsible for our Bebington branch. In practice, Alex particularly enjoys radiography, surgery and anaesthesia. Outside of work, you will probably find her in the mountains training or covered in mud running an obstacle course race. She is a keen paddle boarder and also has a pet sheep called Shaun!
Leanne Knox RVNWallasey Branch Nurse
Leanne lives in Moreton and after being at Broadway for 5 years, qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in September 2016 after completing a 2 year Diploma In Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing. In work, Leanne enjoys laboratory work including microscopy and has an interest in clinical pathology.
Karen McArdle RVNHeswall Branch Nurse
Karen qualified in April 2019 and has been at Broadway since 2014 (having been a client of our Wallasey branch for almost 10 years before!). Her main clinical interests are anaesthesia, patient care and wound care but she thoroughly enjoys her nurse clinics that she runs in our Heswall branch! She has 3 dogs at home; Honey (Cocker Spaniel), Alfie (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) & Norman (Cockerpoo).
Aimee Foden RVNRegistered Veterinary Nurse
Aimee qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2016. Aimee trained at Broadway and after qualifying, left for a while to gain further experience but found her place was back with Broadway! She is a clinical coach and helps train our student veterinary nurses. Aimee loves nurse consults as this lets her interact with clients and their pets. She is also interested in feline behaviour and making the practice as cat friendly as possible. At home she has a crazy Doberman called Opie.
Anna Beattie-Howe RVNRegistered Veterinary Nurse
Anna qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in September 2018 from Myerscough College. Anna has always been interested in animals from a very young age and is committed to improving the health and welfare of all animals. At home, Anna has a 19 ½ year old cat called Ruby (who Anna has taught to sit and high 5) and also helps to look after her nan’s 14-year-old Papillon called Louis. When Anna is not working, you will find her in a gym!
Samantha GrayStudent Veterinary Nurse
Sam has worked at Broadway since June 2015 and whilst here has qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA). Sam is currently towards the end of her Veterinary Nursing course and will qualify in 2020. In practice, Sam has keen interest in anaesthesia and theatre practice. Outside of work she enjoys a variety of gym activities and going on walking adventures with her 3 canine friends Jet, Lexi and Lily. Sam also has 4 guinea pigs and some say she is the crazy guinea pig lady at Broadway!
Bethan SmailStudent Veterinary Nurse
Beth has been working at Broadway since May 2013 and is currently training to become a qualified veterinary nurse. Beth has always loved animals since a young age and has a border collie cross called Millie and a tortoise called Timmy. Beth enjoys working at Broadway because she gets to spend time with animals and meet their owners whilst working within a professional and caring team.
Sera DaviesStudent Veterinary Nurse
Sera has been at Broadway since May 2016 and is in her final year of her veterinary nurse training. Outside of work she enjoys drawing, painting and going on long walks. Sera has 2 rabbits, budgies and a beautiful border collie puppy called Archie.
Jade Mathieson-MortStudent Veterinary Nurse
Jade has always lived on the Wirral and has been at Broadway since 2017 as an auxiliary nurse. She is now a student veterinary nurse studying at Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing and her clinical interests involve anaesthesia and surgery. Jade has always wanted to work with animals, nothing else! She loves small furries like rabbits and guinea pigs and would like to do more clinical work with smaller species throughout her career. In her spare time, Jade enjoys taking her dogs on long walks at locations across the Wirral, looking after her bunnies and going to events/festivals with friends.
Lucy ChapmanAuxiliary Nurse
Lucy has been at Broadway since 2015 and previously worked at Liverpool University’s Small Animal Teaching Hospital where she gained a lot of experience working in a clinical environment. She works mainly in our Heswall branch and has a keen interest in providing high quality inpatient care. Lucy has a Labrador called Dougie, two rabbits and three mice and enjoys nothing better than being outdoors with her dog.
Caitlin HeffernanAuxiliary Nurse
Caitlin started at Broadway in February 2019 and has loved it ever since. Her goal is to train at Broadway and become a qualified veterinary nurse. Caitlin has a staff x lurcher dog called Ellie boo boo who is now 10 years young and has already had two big operations since she started with us, typical!
Lowri CrowderAuxiliary Nurse
Lowri started at Broadway in July 2019 and is currently working around doing her Level 3 in Animal Management. In the future, Lowri is wanting to train to become an RVN and has aspirations to do further training to work in oncology. She has 2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs and a 3-legged hamster!
Abi KennedyAuxiliary Nurse
Abi started at Broadway in June 2019 and is currently working as an auxiliary nurse in our Heswall branch. Abi has always wanted a career working with animals so is hoping to train at Broadway to become an RVN in the near future.
Holly AlmondWallasey Branch Receptionist
Holly graduated from Reeseheath University Centre in June 2018 with a degree in Animal Management and would love to train to be a veterinary nurse in the future. She started at Broadway in 2019 as an auxiliary nurse and is now our full-time receptionist in our Wallasey branch. Holly has three cats called Meow Meow, Springy, and Sprinkles.
Caroline SmithBebington Branch Receptionist
Caroline started at Broadway as an Auxiliary Nurse in October 2014 and is now our full-time receptionist in our Bebington branch. Caroline has always wanted to work with animals and went to Namibia, Africa for a month in 2017 to work as a volunteer at a wild life animal sanctuary. Caroline lives locally so you will probably see her out and about with her three dogs; Jenny (British Bulldog), Maggie and Kiara (French Bulldogs). Caroline also has a cat called Steve.
Sarah has worked at Broadway since March 2019. After having 7 years’ experience in dog grooming, she wanted to branch out into the veterinary industry. She has a French bulldog cross named Buddy and is a lover of all bull breeds. She is currently studying a degree in Canine Studies and hopes to work towards a Veterinary Nursing qualification in future. She has a keen interest in physiotherapy. Outside of work Sarah likes swimming and regular dog walks with Buddy.
