Broadway Vets is pleased to be able to offer a dermatology referral service, led by Robin Marsland, one of our veterinary surgeons. Since qualifying in 2001, Robin has worked in practices in Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales, where he developed a keen interest in dermatology. Having studied this subject extensively and gained considerable clinical experience, he was awarded a Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice in Veterinary Dermatology in 2023.

Pet skin conditions
The skin is the biggest organ in the body and skin conditions (including ear disease) are one of the most common reasons for attending a veterinary practice. Skin disorders can have a major impact on a pet’s quality of life, which in turn can be upsetting and frustrating for their owners. Often these conditions require long-term management and benefit from a collaborative relationship between owners and their vet.
Dermatology with our vet surgeon, Robin
Robin is happy to see cases involving all aspects of small animal dermatology, including parasitic disease, food allergies, atopic dermatitis (environmental allergies), hereditary disorders, immune-mediated conditions and skin cancers.
Based in our Heswall and Bebington practices, Broadway’s dermatology service is accessible to owners from across a wide area, with both practices being within a 5-minute drive from Junction 4 of the M53.
How to get your pet referred to Broadway Vets for dermatology treatment
In order to be seen by the dermatology service, patients must be referred by their usual veterinary practice. Once a referring veterinary surgeon has submitted an online referral, Broadway will contact the owner to arrange a consultation and send out a dermatology history form to be completed prior to attending their appointment.
If a patient is insured, then usually it will be possible to continue a claim for their dermatology treatment at Broadway Vets (subject to the conditions of their policy). The practice will require a patient’s policy details and a signed consent form in order to process a claim.
After a patient’s consultation, a report will be sent to the referring veterinary surgeon to ensure that they are kept informed about the treatment plan. It may be possible for follow-up checks to be carried out a patient’s usual veterinary practice.
