Meet the Team
Our team of Vet Surgeons, Nurses & Admin
Mr M Maloney BVSc MRCVSPractice Principal
Matthew began working with animals in 1983 as an RSPCA Animal Ambulance driver at Putney Veterinary Hospital in London. He was inspired by the work of Rod Heffer, an excellent orthopaedic surgeon at the hospital, and so spent the next three years working at the RSPCA and attending night school to gain the A levels required to train as a vet.
Mrs Emma Strange BVSc MRCVSDirector of Veterinary Services
Emma is from the Wirral and qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2008. She started as a veterinary surgeon at Broadway in 2009. However, some of our clients may remember that Emma worked at Broadway as a receptionist and auxiliary nurse while at university. Emma has broad interests in the areas of dermatology, general medicine and surgery in addition to having a keen interest in rabbits.
Miss Susie Major MA VetMB MRCVSSenior Veterinary Surgeon
Susie qualified from Cambridge University in 1988. After two years working in a small animal practice in Aylesbury she moved to the Wirral. Susie originally came to Broadway as a two week locum, and ended up staying for the next 26 years! Only Denise has been here longer.
Miss Grace Peters BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Grace is from Southern Ireland and qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2014. Grace has been at Broadway since January 2016 and has a keen interest in surgery, now studying for her Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Practice. Outside of work, Grace enjoys horse-riding and looking after her horse, two dogs and cat.
Mrs Sharon Davies BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Sharon is from the Wirral and graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013. Sharon loves working in small animal practice, with an interest in medicine, and is particularly fond of dogs (having 14 of her own!). Outside of work, Sharon enjoys spending time with her MANY animals (14 dogs, 2 cats, 14 horses, 6 chickens and 1 ferret!), preferring to be outdoors as much as possible!
Mrs Madeleine MaloneyPractice Manager
A practice manager must wear many hats and this is certainly true for our manager Madeleine. She has been with the practice since 2000 and in that time has been responsible for the day to day logistics of running three busy practices, as well as sometimes acting as nurse, receptionist, kennel staff, IT technician, taxi driver, and much more.
Miss Georgina Maloney RVNDeputy Practice Manager
Georgie started working at Broadway in 2009 as an auxiliary nurse and completed her veterinary nurse training with us through our affiliation with Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing, becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2015. Georgie is a Clinical Coach for our Student Veterinary Nurses and her main clinical interests are in feline nursing and anaesthesia and she enjoys running nurse clinics in our Wallasey branch.
Miss Denise SmithPractice Administrator
Denise has been at Broadway longer than anyone and is a fixture behind the desk at Bebington, leading us to believe that, like the Tower of London's ravens, if Denise ever left us then Broadway would surely collapse! She sorts out all of our insurance forms, does the books, and generally keeps us all in line.
Mrs Gayle Davies RVNHead Nurse
Gayle qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008. She is our practice head nurse and has specific responsibility for our Heswall branch, working hard to keep us all in line and the practice running smoothly! Gayle is a Clinical Coach, meaning she supports Student Veterinary Nurses within practice during their training.
Miss Alexandra Shankland RVNBebington Practice Team Leader
Alex has been at Broadway since 2011 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2015. Alex is also a Clinical Coach to our nursing students and is responsible for our Bebington branch. In practice, Alex particularly enjoys radiography, surgery and anaesthesia. Outside of work, you will probably find her in the mountains training or covered in mud running an obstacle course race. She is a keen paddle boarder and also has a pet sheep called Shaun!
Mrs Leanne Knox RVNWallasey Practice Team Leader
Leanne lives in Moreton and after being at Broadway for 5 years, qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in September 2016 after completing a 2 year Diploma In Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing. In work, Leanne enjoys laboratory work including microscopy and has an interest in clinical pathology.
Miss Charlotte BuckleyEvening Team Leader
Charley is from the Wirral and originally started at Broadway 4 years ago as an Auxiliary Nurse. However in April 2017, she passed her exams and is now a Qualified Veterinary Nurse after completing a 2 year Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough College. After graduating from Liverpool John Moores University in 2013, with an Animal Behaviour Degree, Charley takes a keen interest in behaviour of cats and dogs, and hopes to further this interest in a more clinical setting.
